Research Project: Principles of composition and design in dramaturgies of the scenic body

Description: Theoretical and poetic studies linked to the creative processes of the scenic body, aiming to enhance the compositional and conceptual engagement of actresses and actors. Procedures are experimented with the construction of corporealities and scenic states, as well as practices that, in addition to an aesthetic perspective, add ethical sense while performing. The notion of dramaturgies of the body is linked to the understanding and exploration of the potential of vectorization, construction and unfolding of meanings (semantic and aesthetic) by the actions and affects of the scenic body. This project is linked to the research lines of actor dramaturgies and Theatre of Instant, by the group Poetics of the Body (DGP/CNPq). GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To experience and deepen the notion of dramaturgies of the scenic body, from the consolidation of theoretical and practical training spaces, experiences and compositions; and to unfold the actions of this space, aimed at performing arts researchers (teachers, undergraduate and graduate students and other researchers), in artistic productions, publications and communications at scientific events.

Research Project: Theatre of Instant

Responsible professor: Alice Stefânia Curi e Rita de Cássia de Almeida Castro

Description: The creative collective Theatre of Instant is a laboratory research line of the Poetics of the Body Research Group, linked to the University of Brasília and CNPq, coordinated by the professors Alice Stefânia Curi and Rita de Almeida Castro. Created in 2009, the group is characterized by providing its members with opportunities for continuing education; for their collaborative processes and partnerships with different artists; for the investigation of immersive poetics and in unconventional spaces; for looking for themes and approaches relevant to the historical and sensitive subject; for the investigation of “practices of the self”, both as means of self-care, and to access states and affects that enhance performance work in its areas of creation and reception; and by deepening theoretical and critical research about poetic processes and experiences, which has repercussions in spaces for discussion, and writing articles and books. Over the past few years, the collective's researchers have created performances, shows and films, in addition to publishing various articles and organizing, producing and launching the book “Poetics of the Body: instants on the scene”, by the UnB publisher (2017).

Research Project: Sounds (i)n Scenes

Responsible professor: César Lignelli

Description: The project has as main research foci: the investigation, elaboration and execution of strategies of apprehension and meaning production in different pedagogical and aesthetic contexts based on the sounds (word, music and sound design). From this perspective, the project has two main action fronts. One linked to strategies of pedagogical-aesthetic formation of professors and actors, and another front directed to the investigation of composition of predominantly aesthetic proposals and their relationship with the formation of theatre audiences. It is noteworthy that the research involving the artistic, methodological and conceptual production, developed in the project Sounds (i)n Scenes are directly related to the Vocality and Scene (Vocalidade e Cena) Research Group - V&C (registered since 2003 in the CnpQ directory), which focuses on the problem of meaning making, in the process that goes from the approach of the text to its realization in the voice, in the word and in the other sounds present in the scene at the moment of its performance.

Research Project: Poverty, performance and education

Responsible professor: Gilberto Icle

Description: This project aims to produce knowledge on the relationship between poverty and performance, as well as analyze the impact that performances (artistic, cultural, social etc.) have on the lives of poor people, seeking to subsidize new policies to fight poverty. We work with the perspective of Performance Studies, Presence Studies and Ethnocenology to maintain a network of researchers, initially involving thirteen universities and research institutions in four countries (Brazil, Argentina, Portugal and France). The research proposes a collective cross-sectional analysis of data produced from reference bibliography readings and from fieldwork research. Expected results should be published in several open access articles and books.

Research project: The image makes the bond: processes of substitution of Divino Espírito Santo revelers in the Goiás surroundings of the Federal District.

Responsible professor: Graça Veloso.

Description: This is a research about the processes of substitution of the older masters, in the Folias do Divino Espírito Santo, in the cases of death or withdrawal of the processions. It aims to document, in photographic (and possibly videographic) records for later publication, as expected result, the relationship established, by imagery constructions, between the various generations that make the processions of the Folias do Divino in the Goiás surroundings of the Federal District. The research will take place in two distinct stages. The first, to be held in the first half of 2013, focused on monitoring the folia turns that take place in the localities of Novo Gama, Santo Antonio do Descoberto, Luziânia and Cidade Oeste (all in the south of Goiás surroundings of DF). Planaltina, Guará and Sobradinho, in the Federal District. The second stage, between the second half of 2013 and the first of 2014, will be aimed at organizing, editing and writing the material to be published.

Research Project: Altered States of Bodies in Spectacularity

Description: This is a Project in Ethnoscenology. It is a research of altered states of bodies in spectacularity in traditional expressive manifestations, based on Afro-Brazilian and pindoramic aesthetic matrices, and their applicability in the creation of theatrical performances. Ethnoscenology, a discipline dedicated to the arts of the show and body, created in 1995 at the “Maison des Cultures du Monde”, and already holding 7 International Colloquiums all over the world, such as in France, Morocco, Mexico and Brazil, dedicates to the study of the scene in human cultural diversity. This project starts from the founding principles of Ethnoscenology, translated in the creation syllabus of the Ethnoscenology WG of the Performing Arts Research and Postgraduate Studies Association - Abrace: "Ethnoscience of the performing arts and organized human spectacular behaviors and practices, ethnoscenology seeks to articulate, at the intersection of the vast fields of knowledge of the sciences and arts, the theories and practices of performing arts and the creation and critique. From the thematic point of view, this transdisciplinary perspective constantly refers to tradition and contemporaneity, as well as to the universes of experimentation, amateurism and professionalism. Its interest in cultural diversity and plurality suggests a frequent dialogue of ethnoscenology with cultural and performance studies, theatrical anthropology and theatre sciences, as well as studies devoted to dance, circus, opera and performance (as admittedly spectacular artistic form). Beyond the strict scope of the history and the contemporaneity of the shows, this dialogue extends to the fields of human sciences that resort to spectacular and theatrical practices to investigate human coexistence and the creation of meanings of the various forms of communication and language. Anchored in the development of research projects built on well-defined objects and corpus, and also on the optimization of the researcher's appetites and competences, ethnoscenology always values the information about the artistic and university path that led each researcher, as subject, to the election of their research object. Its transdisciplinary, scientific and theoretical-methodological perspective, inscribes ethnoscenology in the broad area of knowledge of the arts, more precisely the performing arts.

Research Project: Resignification of puppet theater traditions in contemporary times.

Description: The research project Resignifications of puppet theater traditions in contemporary times is an umbrella project that encompasses two other projects: a) Puppet Theater Popular of the Northeast, Cultural Heritage of Brazil: creation and diffusion of digital collection and b) Processes exhibition and montage with theater techniques in animated ways. a) The first refers to the organization, cataloging and access of documents and material collections in the field of puppet theater traditions and is entitled Teatro de Bonecos Popular do Nordeste, Cultural Heritage of Brazil: creation and dissemination of digital collection. Through an interdisciplinary action, in which the areas of popular puppet theater, cultural heritage, information sciences and foreign languages ​​and translation collaborate, the project proposes the creation of a digital library, in which researchers, teachers, artists and the general public - Brazilian and foreign, can have access to the documentation obtained and produced during the process of registering the Teatro de Bonecos Popular do Nordeste as a Cultural Heritage of Brazil. The digital library will be linked to the Central Library of the UnB - BCE and will be built through the adoption of free software that includes international standards of information organization. b) The second refers to processes of exhibition and staging of popular puppet theater forms and has been developed with masters and doctoral students from PPG-CEN. The project has the following partnerships: b.1 LATA- Laboratory of Theater of Animated Forms of UnB; b.2 Dolls from Lá and Cá: a traveling museum; b.3 - Grupo Trapusteros Teatro; 

Research Project: Leading children: performing arts and cultural diversity at school

Responsible professor: Luciana Hartmann

Description: This research project, in progress since 2016, intends to develop studies on the role of children in artistic-pedagogical processes, with undergraduate and graduate students-researchers in Performing Arts, adopting the issue of cultural diversity in the school space as a transversal axis. The project aims to promote artistic experimentation processes in the field of Performing Arts (theatre, dance, performance, audiovisual, storytelling, etc.), in co-authorship with elementary school students from public schools at DF, aiming to deepen and qualify the debate on cultural diversity in the classroom. It is linked to the Image (i)n Scene Research Group, led by the proponent, and intends to collaborate with the production of new theoretical and methodological contributions to the area of Theatre Pedagogy, both in DF and nationally.

Research Project: Online Musical Dramaturgy: online editing of Brazilian dramatic-musical works 

Responsible professor: Marcus Mota

Description: It is proposed in this project the elaboration of an online editing model that is able to manage the various activities and products that result from the composition and production of dramatic-musical works. The use of technological mediation to provide sheet music, texts and sounds from an online interface organizes the actions of all members of the productive chain. Both the produced model, as well as all descriptions and analyzes that generated it will be available, as a way to subsidize future similar enterprises.

Research Project: Collective Scene Creation Exercises

Description: Created in 2015 the Research Project Collective Scene Creation Exercises (CRICOCEN) is dedicated to the research of scenic modes of exploration, creation, research and production that permeate the collectivization of technical, creative and expressive procedures. The group's research covers aesthetic, poetic, political and ethical aspects of production modes based on shared creation. Activities performed by the group include, article presentation, technical demonstrations, workshops, artistic interventions and theatrical performances. Since its creation, the group's work reverberates on presentations held at scientific, artistic and educational events of local scope (61st Cometa Cenas/UnB, 12th and 13th Scientific Initiation Congresses of UnB, 21st and 22nd Scientific Initiation Congresses of DF, Centro de Ensino Médio 04 de Ceilândia, Centro Educacional 01 do Cruzeiro and at Centro Educacional 02 de Sobradinho); national scope (XX ENEARTE, 68a Reunião Anual da SBPC e Semana Nacional de Ciência e Tecnologia 2016); and of international scope (ATHE 2015 Montreal, Canadá e ATHE 2016 Chicago, EUA).

Research Project: Variations on cinema and theatre

Responsible professor: Roberta Kumasaka Matsumoto

Description: Continuity of research carried out during the postdoctoral research at the University of Paris 8 - Vincennes - Saint-Denis. A Study of the possible relationships, influences and exchanges between theatre and cinema regarding the use of audiovisual devices as research instruments in Performing Arts (research methodology in Performing Arts) and the composition of audiovisual works from the record of and from theatrical performances (memory, permanence, ephemerality and creative process). Such study is based on the praxeological analysis of works by cinematographic and theatrical directors, such as Ariane Mnouchkine et Peter Brook, and on the problematization of categories such as filmed-theatre, live-picture, spectacle recording.

Research Project: CDPDan - Dance Documentation and Research Collective Eros Volúsia

Responsible professor: Soraia Maria Silva

Description: The goal is to establish a space for reflection and practice of dance aiming at, not only, an exchange with the community in general, but also the establishment of the research space and exhibitions of this research by undergraduate and postgraduate students. The results are presented at “Mexido de dança”, showcase that had its seventh edition at the end of February of this year at the Silvio Barbato Theatre on the Southern Commercial Sector - Brasília.

Research Project: Form, style and rehearsal procedures: the voice and the word in contemporary performance.

Description: This project aims to investigate the potentialities of the notions of form and style in theatre as productive and negotiating dimensions between authors, playwrights, directors, actors, collectives, audiences, with the purpose of producing conceptual reflection and proposing rehearsal procedures that enable effectiveness of this notion in the context of the formation of actors and Performing Arts professors in contemporary times.

Research Project: The Axé of queen Nzinga - Body and aesthetic matrix in black traditions and intercorporealities in the contemporary scene.

Responsible professor: Jonas Sales

Description: This research project intends to study the intercorporeal relations of the playful artist and the scenic artist from the experience with the character Queen Jinga (Nzinga), present in expressions of popular traditions and transposed to the theatrical scene, realizing the influence of Axé (energy) in the creative composition work of these artists. It is intended to confront different cultures of the scene with the perspective of reflecting on the scenic artist's Axé and its operations. In this way, reflections and dramatic dances of African matrices on cultures and peoples colonized in our social construction process will be reflected, based on a decolonial thought. It is also intended to build a body as the building element of the scenic narrative for a scene that proposes Afrocentric aesthetics. Popular players and students / artists from scenic training institutions will be the subjects of this action. Cultural traditions such as Congadas, Mozambiques, Capoeira and Maracatus, which contains the presence of Queen Nzinga (or black queens) in their scenic structure, will be the drivers of Axés' discoveries for the artist's body on stage. This research also wishes to accentuate methodological paths and discoveries for the vitality of the artist of the scene, when in an act of acting, considering the interculturality and diversity of artistic culture.
